First Annual
Comic Book Drive
for Our
Real American Heroes

EVENT END RESULTS

New Moon Comics, LLC would like to thank everyone that participated in our First Annual Comic Book Drive For Our Real American Heroes.

We have sent a total of 12 full Diamond Shipping Boxes to Soldiers' Angels on Tuesday (July 15, 2008). Collecting an approximate 4500 comic books with an estimated retail value at over $14,000!

The comics donated were as old as books from the Bronze Age (mid-late '70s) to modern books.

Although we hope this will not be needed next year, we will be ready for this event again - and look forward to the future donations by the comics' community!

Thanks again to all who donated not only comics, but a few dollars to help us pay for shipping the books! It is our sincere hope that the soldiers receiving these books will get enjoyment out of them for however long they are stationed.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!!

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Comic Book Drive for Our Real American Heroes

Little Falls –New Moon Comics in Little Falls invites residents to celebrate Independence Day this year by participating in the first annual Comic Book Drive for Our Real American Heroes.

“We wanted to do something to boost our troops’ morale and let them know we’re thinking of them,” said New Moon Comics owner Robert J. Guadagno. “With the help of our neighbors , customers, and friends, we’re going to put together a shipment of comic books to send overseas.”

To jump start the Fourth of July event, New Moon Comics will donate the first $1,000 worth of merchandise to the drive and will match each subsequent comic book purchased for donation with a donation of equal value. All donations will be distributed to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan by Soldiers’ Angels, a non-profit organization headquartered in California.

Guadagno was inspired to organize the drive by a good friend, U.S. Army Sergeant Michael E. Merwin, who served in the 10th Mountain Division during the Gulf war.

“When Mike was stationed overseas, he told me how much he loved reading the comic books I would send him—he said they helped him ‘get away.’ I’ve been donating comics to the troops on my own for years now, but only recently did I draw up plans to get the whole community involved,” Guadagno said.

New Moon Comics will be accepting donations at its table during the Little Falls Street Fair, as well as at the store. Parents are especially encouraged to bring their children to participate. Several costumed “superheroes” will be in the neighborhood to thank donators of all ages for their support.

“We hope that before people fire up the grills for hotdogs and hamburgers, they’ll take a moment out of their day to support our troops,” Guadagno said. “What better way to celebrate Independence Day?”

The comic book drive will be held on July 4 at New Moon Comics and also at the Little Falls Street Fair, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants wishing to purchase comic books to make a matched donation are invited to stop by the store, located at 463 Main Street in Little Falls, between the railroad tracks and Route 23. Used comic books may be donated at both the store and at the fair. If you are unable to participate on July 4, please note that New Moon Comics will collect donations and will match all comics that are purchased for the drive until July 13.
